What words you use matters.
The language employees use is significantly different to the language you should use as a business owner.
This is particularly important for female founders, as studies show women are more likely to use '“softer” language which undermines their authority and erodes their ability to achieve their intended outcome.
Fortunately, there are some good shortcuts you can use to replace some key phrases with authoritative language to help you.
Here are a few:

💹 These graphs genuinely changed my life
Years ago I saw a post by Sahil Bloom. The post summarised the results of a study by The American Time Use Survey and Our World In Data.
At the time, I felt like I was working hard but not really going anywhere.
Not long before, I had started vomiting blood due to the stress I was putting myself under. Initially misdiagnosed, but that is a different story.
These graphs, along with a couple of other posts I often talk about, genuinely changed the trajectory of my entire life.
I started prioritising what really mattered to me, and that helped make me a better person. As I often discuss, what you do matters more than how much you do.
Now I work less, I make more, and I am significantly happier.
I want to share these graphs with you in the hope it helps spark a better life for you too.
In summary:
Family time is limited—cherish it.
Friend time is limited—prioritise real ones.
Partner time is significant—never settle.
Children time is precious—be present.
Coworker time is considerable—find energy.
Alone time is highest—love yourself.
The core lesson:
Our time is limited. Our time is by far the most precious thing we own. Don’t let life be something that just happens to you. Take control of your time.
I can’t find the original post, but here is a tweet from Sahil where he is reposting the original content with his takes on it.

💡 Quote I'm pondering
“The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time” - Kobe Bryant
Yes, that Kobe Bryant who died aged just 41 - along with his 13-year-old daughter, six family friends, and the pilot - in a terrible helicopter crash.
WHAT a double quote edition? What have we done to deserve this? (note: read this in a good or bad intonation, depending on whether you like this weekly quotes section!).
Well, both quotes were too perfect for me to choose just one. The first is perfect due to it’s poignancy, but it was a bit of a bummer for a Christmas edition. So, here, enjoy this equally poignant but much happier quote on time that I first heard from a good friend.
“The Bad news is that time flies. The good news is that you're the pilot” - Sharon_sharing on Instagram, originally Michael Altshuler
You are in control. Fly safe, but fly with intention. Make your time worthwhile.
