“It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.” - James Clear

One of my clients kept telling me about his life will be better when he becomes a digital nomad and lives in Bali. I asked what was stopping him.

We had built his business to a point where he had plenty of money and could work fully remotely. There was no reason why he couldn’t become a nomad and move to Bali the same week.

When we had a proper conversation about it together he realised he didn't actually want to be a nomad, that was someone else’s dream. It was a dream attached to the idea he had of what an entrepreneur should be. A dream that infiltrated the identity.

Dreams come with a reality. Chasing a dream without properly considering the reality often leads to a nightmare. Much like building a billion dollar business or being famous, often we don't want the shit that comes with it. And everything comes with some kind of shit.

Be honest with yourself, identify what YOU want, and work towards that.

Build your dream, not someone else’s.
